Angelica Bautista

Angelica Bautista is an experienced professional in metabolic engineering with a strong background in enzyme bioprospecting and renewable fuels production. Currently serving as Director of Metabolic Engineering at Debut since January 2022, Angelica has held roles as Team Lead and Senior Scientist within the same department. Prior experience includes a position as Scientist III at BASF and Scientist II at Renewable Energy Group, Inc., where expertise involved applying rational and directed evolution strategies to optimize enzymatic pathways. Academic accomplishments include a PhD in Chemical Engineering from UCLA, where significant research involved discovering and characterizing fungal secondary metabolites and elucidating biosynthetic pathways.
