Bjarni Halldorsson is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in the fields of bioinformatics and statistical genetics. Currently serving as Head of Sequence Analysis at deCODE genetics since June 2013, Bjarni specializes in developing algorithms related to DNA sequencing and statistical genetic analysis. Concurrently, Bjarni has been an Associate Professor at Reykjavik University since 2006, focusing research on algorithms with applications in genetics and DNA sequencing. Previous roles include Director of Research and Development at Expeda, where clinical decision support systems for osteoporosis and autoimmune diseases were developed, and various positions at deCODE genetics and Celera Genomics, which involved algorithm development for genetic analysis and vaccine design. Bjarni holds a PhD in Algorithms, Combinatorics and Optimization from Carnegie Mellon University and a BSc in Mathematics from Háskóli Íslands.
