Sushma Shankar

Sushma Shankar has extensive work experience in various roles and companies. Sushma is currently the Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Deep Planet since February 2022, after previously serving as the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from August 2017 to February 2022.

Additionally, Sushma is a Plant Sector Advisory Board Member at KTN since July 2021 and a Startup Evaluator at EIT Food since March 2022. Sushma is also an Angel Investor at HERMESA since August 2022.

Before their current roles, Sushma worked at BT as a Senior Product Manager from July 2018 to January 2020, where they led transformation and common capabilities across BT group brands, driving significant benefits. Prior to that, they were the Head of Business Planning at BT from July 2017 to June 2018, managing Openreach's business plan and its alignment with the outcomes.

Sushma's earlier experience includes roles at Hitachi Communication Technologies America, Inc. as a Project Leader, R&D, Advanced Mobile Networks, leading geographically dispersed teams in researching, designing, and deploying wireless solutions worldwide. Sushma also served as the Global Product Support Lead, Mobile Networks, and Deployment Lead, Mobile Networks at Hitachi. Prior to that, they worked at Nortel Networks as a Member Of Scientific Staff, R&D, 4G, and at Catapult Communications as a Member Of Technical Staff.

Sushma's career began as a Software Engineering Intern at the Center for Development of Telematics (C-DoT), where they developed PSTN network stacks.

Sushma Shankar has a strong education background with a focus on business and technology. In 2000, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Telecom Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University. Sushma then pursued their Master's degree in Computer Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, which they completed in 2006.

In 2016, Sushma enrolled in the University of Oxford and obtained a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in 2017. This experience provided their with a comprehensive understanding of business principles and strategies.
