Antonis Nikitakis

Antonis Nikitakis has extensive work experience in the field of AI research, machine learning, and hardware engineering. Antonis currently serves as the AI Research Director at DeepSea Technologies since November 2018. Prior to that, they were the Chief Executive Officer at Althexis. Antonis also worked as a Senior Machine Learning and HPC Engineer at Synelixis Solutions SA from February 2014 to December 2018. Before that, they held various research assistant and hardware engineer roles at the Telecommunication Systems Institute in Chania, Crete, Greece, from 2005 to 2015.

Antonis Nikitakis began their education in 1998 at the Democritus University of Thrace in Greece, where they pursued a five-year diploma in Hardware Design and Cryptography. Antonis completed this program in 2004. Following this, they enrolled in the Technical University of Crete and obtained an MSc. Degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering, specializing in Computer Architecture and Hardware Design. This degree was earned between 2004 and 2008. Continuing their academic journey, Nikitakis pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at the University of Crete, Faculty of Social Sciences, which they completed between 2012 and 2015. Lastly, they attended the Technical University of Crete, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Vision and Machine Learning for High-Performance Embedded Applications from 2008 to 2013.
