Carl Black is a seasoned investment professional currently serving as Chief Investment Officer at Deetken Impact, where responsibilities include leading investment activities for funds focused on renewable energy in Central America and the Caribbean. Since joining Deetken Impact in 2016, Carl has directed substantial projects in utility scale and distributed generation solar PV across multiple countries. Previous experience includes roles as Principal Consultant at The Deetken Group, where advisory work targeted public sector clients and non-profits, and as a Research Assistant at the Bank of Canada, focusing on economic research related to credit during the post-global financial crisis period. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Economics and International Development from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics (Honours) from the University of British Columbia.
