Alishan Gokal

Alishan Gokal has a range of work experience in the field of IT and cybersecurity. They started their career as an Information Technology Intern at Sky New Zealand in April 2018, where they gained knowledge and skills in various departments such as Service Desk, Service and Risk Management, Product and Development Operations, Testing, Development, Security, and Networking. During this internship, Alishan developed Bash, PowerShell, and SQL scripts to improve workflow efficiency and was commended for their attention to detail, independence, and proactive approach.

Following their internship, Alishan worked as a Research Interviewer at Gravitas Research and Strategy - One Picture from September 2018 to September 2020. In this role, they conducted research interviews.

They then joined VetPartners Australia and New Zealand as a Technical Support Engineer in April 2021. In this position, Alishan provided server, client, network, and Exchange administration to over 250 Australasian clients. They also developed Bash, PowerShell, and Batch scripts to automate support workflows. Alishan was praised for their easy collaboration, quick ability to learn procedures, and exceptional support.

Most recently, Alishan has joined DEFEND as a Cyber Security Engineer, beginning in May 2023.

Alishan Gokal attended The University of Auckland from 2016 to 2020, where they completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science & Logic and Computation. Alishan obtained a certification in CompTIA Security+ ce from CompTIA in April 2022.
