Heather Clarkson

Southeast Program Outreach Representative at Defenders of Wildlife

Heather Clarkson is an experienced professional in wildlife advocacy and nonprofit leadership. Currently serving as the Southeast Program Outreach Representative at Defenders of Wildlife since June 2016, Heather leads advocacy efforts for the critically endangered red wolf in eastern North Carolina, collaborating with local communities, landowners, and legislative bodies. As the Founder and Director of Carolina Hearts Aussie Rescue since January 2012, Heather oversees all aspects of the nonprofit, including dog intake, medical care, volunteer management, and adopter support. Previous roles include Law Clerk at Austin and Rogers, PA, where responsibilities focused on nonprofit client management, and various positions in veterinary assistance and wildlife coordination. Heather holds a Juris Doctorate in Environmental Law from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Government from the same institution.
