James Ostinowsky

James Ostinowsky, MA, ASHM has extensive work experience in the field of safety and emergency management. James served as a Lead Safety and Occupational Health Specialist for the Defense Logistics Agency, conducting inspections and recommending abatement measures for safety compliance. Prior to this role, they worked as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist for the same organization.

Before joining the Defense Logistics Agency, James worked at the Naval District of Washington Fire & Emergency Services as a Firefighter/EMT and Hazardous Materials Technician. During their time there, they provided fire, rescue, and EMS services to the United States Naval Academy, assuming responsibilities as a Lead Firefighter when needed.

Additionally, James worked as a Firefighter/EMT for the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, where they responded to a high volume of fire and rescue operations. James also served as an Airfield Firefighter at the Willow Grove Naval Air Station Federal Fire Department, carrying out crash/fire/rescue duties and performing structural fire suppression, hazardous materials response, and first responder emergency medical services.

James Ostinowsky, MA, ASHM, obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Emergency and Disaster Management from the American Public University System from 2011 to 2014. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Community and Human Services from SUNY Empire State College from 2003 to 2011. James Ostinowsky also holds an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in Fire Science/Firefighting from HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, which they completed from 2000 to 2002. In addition to their degrees, they have several certifications including Associate Safety and Health Manager, Occupational Safety and Health Trainer, Occupational Safety and Health Manager, Occupational Safety and Health Specialist, Fire Officer IV, Fire Inspector III, Fire Instructor III, and Hazardous Materials Incident Commander.
