Joseph Sanders has over 30 years of work experience in various leadership roles. Joseph served as the Chief Operating Officer at Defense Media Activity, where they were responsible for developing organizational strategy and building cross-functional teams. Prior to that, they worked as the Director at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, where they managed digital communications and developed communication strategies. Joseph also served as the Chief Knowledge Officer at The Wexford Group, where they established and implemented knowledge management strategies for the Army Asymmetric Warfare Group. Joseph began their career in the United States Marine Corps as a Visual Information/Combat Camera Officer. In 2014, they engaged in Professional Studies in Performance Management in Government and Non-profits from UMass Boston. Additionally, Joseph completed the Senior Executive Fellows program in Executive Leadership at Harvard University in 2021.

Joseph has also earned two additional certifications. In 2016, they obtained the Balanced Scorecard Professional designation from the Balanced Scorecard Institute and The George Washington University. Furthermore, they received the Senior Executive Fellow certification from Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education, although the specifics of its completion date are unclear.
