Nathan Maysonet has work experience in various roles related to public affairs and media. Nathan started in 2009 as a Substitute Teacher at Clover Park Public Schools. In 2011, they joined the United States Air Force as a Public Affairs Specialist, where they were responsible for coordinating and editing print, photo, and social media products to communicate information about the 47th Flying Training Wing. Nathan also served as a Deployed Photojournalist at Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti. From 2016 to 2020, they worked at the Defense Information School as an Instructor for the Air Force Basic Photojournalist Course. Currently, Nathan is the Flight Chief of Air Force News Services at Defense Media Activity, leading a team to support the Secretary of the Air Force Public Affairs in meeting communication objectives and mission requirements.
Nathan Maysonet's education history includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law and Justice with a minor in Psychology from Central Washington University, which they completed from 2006 to 2008. Prior to that, they obtained an Associate degree in Criminal Justice from Pierce College at Fort Steilacoom, where they studied from 2003 to 2006.
In 2011, Nathan attended the Community College of the Air Force, where they earned an A.S.S. in Mass Communication, specializing in Mass Communication/Media Studies. During this time, they also completed the Basic Public Affairs Specialty Course Certificate at Defense Information School in 2011-2012, focusing on Public Affairs and Photojournalism.
Later, in 2014, Nathan attended Defense Information School again and completed the Content Management Course, with a focus on Communication, Journalism, and Related Programs.
Currently, Nathan Maysonet is pursuing a Master of Science degree in Communication and Media Studies from Liberty University, starting in 2017.
In addition to their formal education, Nathan has obtained several certifications throughout their career. These include "Working with Data for Effective Decision Making" from Skillsoft in September 2022, "Radio Operator" from the Federal Communications Commission in April 2021, and "Google Champion" certification from Google Cloud Certified in August 2017.
Furthermore, Nathan has obtained various certifications from FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) and the Department of Homeland Security. These include "IS-00200.FW Basic Incident Command System for Federal Disaster Workers" in January 2006, "IS-00800 National Response Plan (NRP), an Introduction" in January 2006, "Introduction to the Incident Command System, I-100 for Federal Disaster Workers" in April 2005, "IS-003 Radiological Emergency Management" in February 2005, and "Department of Homeland Security IS-700 National Incident Management System (NIMS)" in October 2004.
