Melissa Tune is a seasoned media relations professional with over 12 years of experience in Army Public Affairs and extensive expertise in strategic communications within the Department of Defense. Currently serving as the Chief of Public Affairs at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency since October 2018, Melissa has a proven track record of developing and implementing effective media relations strategies and building relationships with key media personnel in Washington, DC and internationally. Previous roles include Chief of Public Affairs for the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization, Deputy Chief of Public Affairs for the Joint Improvise-Threat Defeat Agency, and various positions within the US Army and Army Reserve. Melissa holds a Master's degree in Public Relations and Corporate Communications from Georgetown University and a B.A. in English and Communications Studies from Virginia Tech. Additionally, Melissa is a longstanding member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and the National Association of Black Journalists.
