Alina Benedict began their professional experience in 2001 as a Tutor for Simon Fraser University, where they tutored university and high school students in Advanced Math concepts and Computing Science programming languages. In 2003, they were a Database Programmer/Administrator for Volunteer Vancouver, where they led the design, development and implementation of an organization-wide SQL database. In 2010, they became a Software Development Engineer and Test for Microsoft's BizModeler, where they owned various features such as "BizModeler Client Application," "SharePoint Web Applications," "SharePoint and SharePoint Search Setup and Configuration (On-Premises and Online)," and "SharePoint BI Search." In 2012, they became a Software Engineer 2 on Microsoft's OneDrive/SharePoint team, where they delivered a modern and easier to use "Site Permissions Panel" accessible directly from the Home and Library page. Alina also modernized Publishing, Ratings & Likes, Workflow, Compliance Details, and Check-in & Check-out. In 2017, they became a Software Engineer 2 for Microsoft's Azure Identity Dev Platform, where they worked on adding UI support for Managed Service Identity. In 2018, they became a Software Engineer 2 for Amperity. In 2019, they became a Software Engineer for DefenseStorm, where they worked as a full stack developer using AngularJS, Angular 2, and Java. Alina was currently working on adding end-to-end new features using Java for backend and Angular2 frontend. In 2021, they became a Senior Software Engineer for Smartsheet.

Alina Benedict graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Science, double majoring in Mathematics and Computing Science.
