Katarzyna began their career in 2009 as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at Centro de Investigación Príncipe Felipe (CIPF), where they focused on optimizing the reprogramming protocol for generation of human iPSCs from difficult to reprogram somatic cell cells and comparing stress defence mechanisms and mitochondrial biogenesis regulation in hiPSC cell lines generated from adult human skin fibroblasts vs hESC lines. In 2010, they became a Postdoctoral Researcher at Newcastle University in the Lako Lab at the Institute of Genetic Medicine. From 2013 to 2019, they worked at the Wellcome Sanger Institute as a Senior Staff Scientist/Staff Scientist- Yusa Lab; Cellular Genetics, where they scientifically led, developed and performed genome wide CRISPR KO screens in human iPSCs and their pancreatic derivatives, developed reporter lines and cellular assays, and conducted hits selection and validation.
