Obaid Rahman

Obaid Rahman is a seasoned executive in the insurance industry, currently serving as Senior Vice-President and Chief Underwriting Officer for Commercial Insurance at Definity since September 2022, where responsibilities include overseeing growth, profitability, and risk management for the commercial insurance division. Rahman also holds the position of Chair of the Commercial Lines Standing Committee at the Insurance Bureau of Canada and previously worked at Economical Insurance as Vice President of Commercial Underwriting & Specialty Lines. Between 2007 and 2018, Rahman held various leadership roles at Intact, where duties spanned product development, underwriting, and P&L management across specialty insurance lines. Beginning a career at AXA Insurance as an Actuarial Analyst, Rahman earned an Honours B.Sc. in Actuarial Science and Economics from the University of Toronto and later obtained an MBA from Queen's University.
