David Thompson is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in environmental policy and management. Currently serving as a Senior Policy Advisor in the Devolution & Legislative Framework team within Defra since August 2016, Thompson previously worked as a Senior Policy Analyst at the Committee on Climate Change, where contributions were made to the Adaptation Sub-Committee's efforts in advising Ministers on UK Climate Change Risk Assessment. Prior to that, Thompson managed the climate change and energy policy program at Natural England, honing expertise in natural carbon store management. Earlier roles at the Countryside Agency included advisory positions on water policy and National Park designation initiatives. Thompson began a career in public service with Ealing Council as a Ranger and later as a Senior Ranger. Academic qualifications include a B.A. (Hons) in Geography from The University of Sheffield.
