Dr Frances Ryfield

Environmental Improvement Plan social research and evaluation lead

Dr. Frances Ryfield, FRGS, is a researcher and cultural and historical geographer with extensive academic and practical experience. They served as a lecturer in Human Geography at the University of Cumbria from 2018 to 2022 and worked as a Specialist Researcher for Outdoor Productions in 2015-2016. Dr. Ryfield holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Exeter and has held several academic roles, including Associate Lecturer at the University of Exeter and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at University College Dublin, where they explored the cultural value of coastlines. Currently, they lead social research and evaluation for the Environmental Improvement Plan at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
