Rebecca Smith

Coordinator Of Innovation, Partnerships, And Special Projects at Delaware County Intermediate Unit

Rebecca Smith has extensive experience in professional learning coordination and public service. Since November 2016, Rebecca has worked at the Delaware County Intermediate Unit in various capacities, including Coordinator of Professional Learning, Consultant, Digital Media Specialist, and Legislative and Communications Specialist. Additionally, since January 2018, Rebecca has served as a Councilwoman for the Municipality of Norristown. Prior experience includes a Congressional Intern position at the U.S. House of Representatives from January 2016 to November 2016, a Research Assistant role at Arcadia University from August 2015 to August 2016, and work as a Press Secretary at the House of Commons in the fall of 2014. Educational qualifications include a Master of Public Administration and a Master of Science in Education from the University of Pennsylvania, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Arcadia University.

Delaware County Intermediate Unit

The Delaware County Intermediate Unit (DCIU) is a regional education services agency. It is our mission to provide leadership for the development of innovative and cost-effective programs to meet the needs of our county. DCIU serves more than 80,000 school-aged students and more than 6,000 educators on a regional basis. Direct instruction is provided to more than 15,000 students enrolled in DCIU’s Special Programs, Career and Technical Education and specialized programs. The Delaware County Intermediate Unit is one of Pennsylvania’s 29 regional educational agencies. Established in 1970 by the State Legislature, IUs were charged with providing services in seven areas. DCIU grew to meet Delaware County’s needs by providing services best offered on a regional basis such as special education, technical education, services to nonpublic schools and technology. Today, more than 40 years in the business of serving the needs of Delaware County, DCIU has grown to provide more than $125 million worth of services through the management of 60 programs.
