James Overton has extensive work experience in various roles and positions. James started their career as the Chief of Police at Delaware State University, a role they held for over a decade. James then joined UMass Boston, where they served as Chief of Police and later as Interim Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs/Chief of Police. Following this, James worked at Johnson Controls Inc. as a Business Development Manager, and then at Advantech Incorporated as a Sales Support Executive. Currently, James is working at Delaware State University as the Chief of Police and also holds the position of Vice President for Student Affairs/Superintendent.
James Overton earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Delaware State University in 2004. James then pursued higher education at Wilmington University, where they completed a Master's degree in Human Resources Management and Services from 2006 to 2010. Additionally, they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Business Administration and Management, General from Delaware State University, graduating in 2010.
