Tony Allen

President at Delaware State University

Tony Allen is the current President at Delaware State University, and they have held this position since August of 2017. Prior to their current role, Tony served as the Managing Director of Corporate Reputation at Bank of America from January 2004 to August 2017. In this role, Tony was responsible for creating an enterprise discipline to assess success at influencing all major external audiences in areas relevant to the bank. Tony also provided integrated communications support for the company’s brand, corporate social responsibility initiatives, and local market delivery nationwide.

Tony’s previous responsibilities include serving as a Communications Executive and Senior communications and corporate affairs counsel for the vice chairman and leaders of the Consumer Banking Division. In this role, they led approximately 100 professional communicators and partners responsible for all internal and external communications across North America. This included executive communications, public relations, and media strategy, as well as coordination of experiential product campaigns.

Prior to joining Bank of America, Tony served as the Executive Vice President at MBNA America Bank, N.A. In this role, they were primarily responsible for Mid-Atlantic regional call center operations in Hunt Valley, MD. Tony grew $252 million in top-line revenue and product sales annually. Tony also served as general manager for the vice chairman, which included coordination of a $50MM branding effort.

Tony Allen received their BA in Political Science from the University of Delaware. Tony then went on to earn their MPA from Baruch College. After that, they earned their PhD in Urban Affairs and Public Policy from the University of Delaware.
