Paul Breedveld is a distinguished academic at Delft University of Technology, serving as the Chair of the Section for Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bio-Inspired Technology, as well as the Director of the 3mE Graduate School. Paul holds the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Chair and is a Full Professor within the Department of Bio-Mechanical Engineering. With extensive experience in bio-inspired medical technology, Paul has previously held roles as Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at TU Delft. Earlier research endeavors included a position as a KNAW researcher investigating bio-inspired locomotion through the intestines, and a postdoctoral role focusing on depth perception and eye-hand coordination in laparoscopic surgery. Additionally, Paul contributed as a Visiting Research Scientist at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, developing a steerable endoscope. Paul earned a PhD in Human-Machine Interfacing and Space Systems Technology, along with an MSc and BSc in Mechanical Engineering, all from Delft University of Technology.
