William Shields

William Shields is an accomplished Climate Change Researcher and PhD student at The Walker Institute since December 2021, focusing on enhancing Climate Risk Assessments for vulnerable rural communities in the Global South. In addition, William serves as a Director at Evidence for Development, contributing pro bono to the implementation of Machine Learning techniques for cost-effective data collection aimed at fighting poverty through evidence-based policies. William also holds the position of Director at Deloitte within the Financial Risk Management team, specializing in climate change and risk management for financial institutions. Prior experience includes roles as a Capital Management Analyst at Royal Bank of Scotland and a Junior Analyst at Expand Research. William holds an MSc in International Securities, Investments & Banking from ICMA Centre, Henley Business School, a Diploma in Economics from the University of Bristol, and a BA in History from the University of York.
