Joanna Plafsky

Joanna Plafsky is an international film producer, film distributor, and philanthropist. Her passion is supporting filmmaking that uplifts the human spirit and enhances global consciousness.

She was Co-Founder of Nu Image Films (now Millennium Films) which went on to become one of the biggest independent film producers and distributors in the world, with hits such as The Expendables, Sixteen Blocks with Bruce Willis, and 88 Minutes with Al Pacino.

Plafsky began her career as Founder and President of Radiance Films International, a foreign sales and film distribution company. She co-produced and sold hundreds of films at the Cannes, Milan, and other international film festivals into the burgeoning worldwide home entertainment market.

Her recent films include the Academy Award winning short film Skin, directed by Guy Nattiv, The Comedian with Robert DeNiro, The Kindergarten Teacher with Maggie Gyllenhaal, and the Emmy-nominated documentary My Reincarnation. Due out later this year are the films, Human Capital with Liev Schreiber, Marisa Tomei, and Peter Sarsgaard, and A Mouthful of Air with Amanda Seyfried, Finn Wittrock, and Paul Giamatti.

Plafsky works with many philanthropic organizations through the Plafsky Family Foundation. In addition she serves on the board of the David Lynch Foundation which helps reduce stress from trauma among at-risk populations through the utilization of the evidence-based Transcendental Meditation program which she is a teacher of.
