Mike Hankinson

Mike Hankinson is Executive Vice President and Chief Legal and Compliance Officer of Delta Dental of California and its enterprise affiliates including Delta Dental Insurance Company, Delta Dental of New York, Inc., and Delta Dental of Pennsylvania, which operate in 15 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Mike is responsible for managing the legal, regulatory, government and public affairs, risk, ethics and compliance, and clinical services teams and functions across the organization.

Mike has served as a general counsel for more than 25 years at public and private companies in a variety of regulated and non-regulated industries, including life and health, property and casualty insurance, healthcare technology and foodservice. His expertise includes corporate, financing and commercial transactions, risk management and insurance regulation, operations and compliance.

Prior to joining Delta Dental, Mike was Co-founder, Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel for Imerica Life and Health. He also was Senior Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel of HealthAxis, where he managed the company’s reverse triangular merger that took it public. Prior to becoming an attorney, Mike was an executive in the hospitality industry in New York City.

Mike received a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Fordham Graduate School of Business and graduated cum laude with a Juris Doctor degree from Pace University School of Law. He is an admitted attorney in New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, and registered in-house counsel in California.
