Ane Wiersma is a seasoned geologist with extensive experience in applied research and consultancy in geology and groundwater systems. Currently serving as the Head of the Department of Applied Geology and Geophysics at Deltares since January 2010, Ane specializes in geological mapping, modeling, and groundwater solutions. Additionally, Ane holds the position of Secretary/Treasurer at the National Chapter of the Netherlands for the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH) since June 2018. Previous experience includes consulting and research roles at TNO / Geological Survey of The Netherlands, focusing on geological modeling and sedimentary systems, and a PhD researcher position at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where research centered on climate modeling and reconstruction. Ane Wiersma obtained a Master's Degree in Sedimentary Geology from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2002.
