Bart Grasmeijer has extensive work experience in the field of coastal sediment transport and morphology. Bart has held various senior advisory roles and conducted scientific research and consultancy in companies such as Deltares, ARCADIS Nederland, and Alkyon. Bart has expertise in hydrodynamics, sediment transport processes, and small and large-scale morphology. Bart has also been involved in field and laboratory measurements, numerical modeling, and has contributed to numerous research programs and projects at both national and international levels. Bart's areas of focus include port planning, shoreline management, coastal evolution, tidal inlet dynamics, flood protection, and building with nature.

Bart Grasmeijer obtained their MSc. degree in Civil Engineering from Delft University of Technology, where they studied from 1989 to 1995. Following this, they pursued a Ph.D. in Process-based cross-shore modelling of barred beaches at Utrecht University, from 1996 to 2002. Prior to their university education, Bart attended Augustinuscollege Groningen between 1985 and 1989, although no degree was mentioned for this period.

In addition to their formal education, Bart Grasmeijer has acquired several certifications. Bart obtained the Emergency Response Officer certification from BHV.NL in 2016. Bart also has certifications in Basic University Teaching Qualification and Communication in English, both obtained from Universiteit Utrecht.
