Jorge Garcia Fortanet

Jorge Garcia Fortanet has over 18 years of work experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. Jorge is currently the VP and Head of Drug Discovery at DEM Biopharma, Inc. Jorge previously worked as the Head of Chemistry at New Equilibrium Biosciences. Prior to that, they held various roles at Casma Therapeutics, including Senior Director of Medicinal Chemistry, Director of Medicinal Chemistry, and Principal Scientist. Jorge also worked as a Consultant at Third Rock Ventures and as an Investigator at GSK. Jorge gained valuable experience at Novartis, where they served as an Investigator III and Investigator II. Before their industry career, Jorge was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Summer Visiting Researcher at the University of Cambridge and UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas.

Jorge Garcia Fortanet pursued their education in the field of Chemistry at Universitat Jaume I. Jorge obtained their Bachelor of Science degree from there, studying from 1998 to 2002. Continuing their academic journey, Jorge further specialized in Organic Synthesis and enrolled in a PhD program at the same institution. Jorge dedicated five years, from 2002 to 2007, to complete their doctoral studies.
