Camilo Brandao-de-Resende

Camilo Brandao-de-Resende is a data and machine learning specialist currently working at Dem Dx since March 2021, where responsibilities include data strategy and the development of machine learning models. Since January 2024, Camilo has also served as an AI Senior Fellow at Omnilogic. Additionally, from September 2021 to August 2024, Camilo held an honorary research fellow position at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, where a machine learning system was developed for ophthalmic triage that demonstrated increased specificity. Previous roles include associate staff at UCL, chief scientific officer and senior artificial intelligence engineer at Omnilogic, and professor at Universidade José do Rosário Vellano. Camilo completed medical residency in ophthalmology at UFMG, alongside earlier positions as an artificial intelligence engineer and graduate researcher at Carnegie Mellon University. Education includes an MD in ophthalmology and a PhD from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, alongside a PhD student stint at Carnegie Mellon University and engineering degrees from Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica.
