Tom Knoop is a seasoned senior vision engineer with extensive experience in designing high-end machine vision systems across various industries at DEMCON Focal since April 2016. Initially starting as a vision engineer, Tom transitioned following the acquisition of FOCAL by DEMCON, where responsibilities evolved to include large-scale projects involving interdisciplinary collaboration. Prior to this role, Tom served as a project engineer at TCPM and worked as an instructor at XL Adventure and Events. Academic achievements include a Master of Science in Biomedical/Medical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in the same field from the University of Twente, where Tom also completed significant research projects, including CT-based systems for metastatic lesion analysis and vibrotactile localization studies. Early career experience includes a steward role at Rijkswaterstaat.

Demcon focal is the integration and development partner in the field of Industrial Precision Inspection and Optical Systems. Demcon focal develops and realizes precision inspection and optical measurement systems for customers in automotive, life sciences and semicon. DEMCON Focal performs custom design and engineering (D&E) in a multidisciplinary approach, consisting of optical engineering, machine vision and system engineering. Activities include high-level requirements engineering, concept design, prototyping, detailed engineering, system integration and delivery. The result of our efforts is systems that work, which are either integrated and supported in the customers’ production lines, or delivered as modules ready for integration in high-tech or medical OEM products.
