Kelly Burns

Lead Learning Designer at Dementia Australia

Kelly Burns has extensive experience in the field of dementia care and mental health education. Kelly began their career as a Cognition Clinical Nurse Consultant at Peninsula Health in 2004, where they provided specialized care for patients with cognitive impairments. In 2012, they joined Melbourne Health in a similar role. In 2013, they transitioned to roles at Dementia Australia and Alzheimer's Australia Vic, where they focused on designing and developing courses and programs related to dementia care. In 2011, Kelly also co-directed the iTeach Mental Health program, which aimed to prevent occupational violence in healthcare settings. Kelly remained in this position until at least 2021.

Kelly Burns earned a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Science Nursing from RMIT University between 1989 and 1993. More recently, in 2020, Kelly began pursuing a Master's Degree in Dementia at the University of Tasmania.
