Henry R. Muñoz III was elected in a unanimous vote to serve as vice chairman of the Democratic National Committee in 2022. A designer, activist, and philanthropist, served as the DNC’s Finance Chair from 2013 to 2019. He was the DNC’s longest-serving Finance Chair and was the first Latino and openly gay person to hold the position. The former chairman and CEO of Muñoz & Co., Henry has launched numerous national movements to support the Hispanic community, such as Momento Latino, TheDream.US, and Latino Victory. He also co-founded SOMOS Community Care, a non-profit healthcare network focusing on New York City immigrant communities.
He is also chairman of Funny Or Die Studios, one of the nation’s most prominent comedy production studios for digital platforms, television, and film.
Vice Chair Muñoz is a founder of the effort to create a National Latino Museum on the Mall in Washington D.C., serving as chair of the bipartisan committee of Congress that studied the development of what will now be known as The Smithsonian National Museum of the American Latino. In 2022, Muñoz was elected founding chairman of the board of the new museum.
Muñoz was appointed to the Board of the National Parks Foundation, where he established The American Latino Heritage Fund to support the creation of National Monuments and Heritage Sites that record the contributions of Latinos to the history of the country. He was also a key figure in the efforts to declare Stonewall as the first National Monument devoted to the LGBTQ+ movement.
