Anil Rana

Principal Scientist at Denali Therapeutics

Anil Rana, PhD, is a Senior Scientist at Denali Therapeutics since June 2019, focusing on the establishment of in vitro and in vivo models for studying lysosome functions in neurodegenerative diseases, and has extensive experience in phagosome-lysosome assays, lipidomic and proteomic analysis, and CRISPR-Cas9 editing. Prior to this, Anil Rana held the position of Scientist at the University of California, Los Angeles from February 2011 to May 2019, leading research projects that resulted in key publications and grant funding related to aging and neurodegenerative disorders. Anil Rana also completed a post-doctoral research position where modulation of a key protein involved in Parkinson's disease led to significant findings published in PNAS. Anil Rana earned a PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Groningen, where notable achievements included lead authorship on published research and successful drug discovery efforts. Educational qualifications include an MSc in Medical & Pharmaceutical Drug Innovation and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
