Hakan Ateş

Born in 1959, ATEŞ completed his undergraduate studies at Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, in the field of Business Administration, after completing his education at TED Ankara College. ATEŞ, who started his career as an Inspector in the Board of Inspectors at İşbank in 1981, worked in various units of Interbank between 1986 and 1993, and then worked as a Branch Manager in Elmadağ, Şişli, Bakırköy, İzmir and Central Branches. He established Interbank's Cash Management System and was appointed as Assistant General Manager responsible for Central Operations in 1993. Between 1994-1996, he worked at Bank Ekspress as the Executive Vice President of Financial Affairs and Operations and carried out the Bank Express restructuring project under the consultancy of Bank of America. He still continues his duty, which he started as the Founding General Manager at DenizBank in June 1997.

DenizBank shares were offered to the public in October 2004, with a demand equal to 5.5 times the supply amount. In addition, under the management of Mr. ATEŞ, DenizBank shares, owned by Zorlu Holding, were sold to Dexia SA for $3,250 billion in May 2006, with a multiplier value of 4.7, the highest amount in Turkey. ATEŞ, 6 years later, in June 2012, 99.85% of DenizBank shares owned by Dexia Group, with a multiplier value of 1.33 and a value of 3.6 billion dollars, to Sberbank, and in July 2019, despite the difficult market conditions, with a value close to 1 multiplier, 15.48 billion TL. Managed the sales process to Emirates NBD. In May 2011, Deniz Emeklilik's book value was transferred to 256 Million Euros for 10 times its value, with a 15-year sales agreement, and in 2013, Citi Turkey Retail Banking Department's 1st floor.

Hakan ATEŞ, who is the Chairman of the Board of DenizBank subsidiaries Deniz Yatırım Menkul Kıymetler A.Ş., Intertech A.Ş., DenizBank Moscow and DenizBank AG, has been serving as a Board Member at Emirates NBD Egypt as of September 2020. ATEŞ, who was awarded the "Adding Value to Turkey" Award by Bahçeşehir University in 2015, is the father of two children and has a good command of English.
