Xiao-Xiong Lu

Xiao-Xiong Lu has extensive experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. Most recently, they served as the Chief Technical Officer at Denovo Biopharma since February 2018. Prior to that, they were the CEO of Luvanco LLC starting in 2016. Xiao-Xiong also held the role of VP, Technical Operations at Balance Therapeutics Inc. from 2016 to 2020.

From 2003 to 2015, Lu worked at Arena Pharmaceuticals, where they held various positions including Managing Director, Greater China, and Associate VP, CMC & Technical Operations. In these roles, they were responsible for regulatory, development, and commercial strategies in Greater China and other Asian markets. Xiao-Xiong also developed licensing partners and negotiated marketing agreements, and provided support to regulatory and clinical development activities.

Before their time at Arena Pharmaceuticals, Lu worked at Monsanto Company from 1990 to 2003 as the Director of R&D and Manufacturing, overseeing process development, technology transfer, and manufacturing process improvements. Xiao-Xiong also managed corporate R&D organizations and was involved in the construction and start-up of pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.

Lu began their career as a Senior R&D Engineer at Ethyl Corporation in 1989.

Xiao-Xiong Lu obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Birmingham. Xiao-Xiong pursued their doctoral studies from 1984 to 1988. Following that, in 1989 to 1990, they attended Louisiana State University to complete coursework for an MBA degree, although it is not specified if they ultimately obtained the degree.
