Karina Maldonado

Karina Maldonado, AICP, currently serves as Planning Manager at the Denton County Transportation Authority, beginning in April 2024. Karina previously held various positions at the City of Denton from January 2019 to March 2024, including Transportation Planner and Associate Planner. Prior to that, Karina was a Senior Transportation Planner at the North Central Texas Council of Governments from March 2015 to January 2019, managing transit capital and operating projects funded by the Federal Transit Administration. Additional experience includes serving as a Planning and Zoning Board Member for the City of Alamo and working as a Transportation Planner I at the Hidalgo County Metropolitan Planning Organization. Karina holds a Master of Public Administration from The University of Texas at Arlington and a Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Science from Texas A&M University, along with international education in Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning.

The Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) is the transit authority that operates in Denton County, Texas. DCTA offers several services,including: a local bus service in Denton, Highland Village and Lewisville; campus shuttles to the University of North Texas and North Central Texas College; and a commuter rail service connecting passengers to Downtown Dallas.
