Nancy Lake Benson is a Trustee at the Denver Art Museum. Nancy has been with the organization since November 2012 and was promoted to their current position in March 2020. Prior to their current role, they served as the Senior Interpretive Specialist for Textile Art & Fashion and Special Projects.
Benson began their museum career at the Brooklyn Museum in December 2000 as the Interpretive Materials Manager. Nancy then moved to Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in December 2004, where they served as Deputy Director for Learning. In December 2007, they joined Left Coast Press, Inc. as the Museum Studies & Practice.
Benson has a passion for textile art and fashion and has used their platform at the Denver Art Museum to showcase these works. Under their leadership, the museum has hosted several successful exhibitions, including "The Fashion of Frida Kahlo" and "Yves Saint Laurent: The Perfection of Style." Benson is also credited with increasing public engagement through innovative programming and community outreach initiatives.
Nancy Lake Benson received a MS.Ed in Museum Education from Bank Street College of Education, a M.A. in Art Nancy'story from the University of Chicago, and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Art Nancy'story from Columbia University in the City of New York.
