Colleen Washburn

Lead Special Education Instructional Specialist at Denver Public Schools

Colleen Washburn has a background in special education and law. Colleen began their career as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Darrell M. Fineman, J.S.C. at the State of New Jersey Judiciary in 2010. Colleen then worked as an Associate at Becker Meisel LLC from 2011 to 2012, and as a Law Clerk at Disability Attorneys of Michigan from 2013 to 2013. In 2015, they transitioned into the education field, working as a Primary Autism Center Program Teacher at Denver Green School until 2019. From 2019 to 2022, they served as an Autism Special Education Instructional Specialist at Denver Public Schools. In 2022, they took on the role of Director of Student Services: Accountability and Compliance at STRIVE Prep. Currently, they are working as a Lead Special Education Instructional Specialist at Denver Public Schools.

Colleen Washburn earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communications from Albion College in 2006. Colleen then attended Rutgers Law School from 2007 to 2010, where they obtained their Doctor of Law degree. In 2013, Colleen pursued further education at Metropolitan State University of Denver, where they completed their Master of Education degree in Special Education and Teaching in 2015.
