Mark Huang is the current Director at Denver Rescue Mission. Prior to that, they were the Director of Economic Development at City of Providence from July 2015 to March 2018. In this role, they focused on expanding Providence's emerging innovation ecosystem. Mark developed and executed an Urban Food strategy that led to a 1.5 acre brownfield-to-hydroponics facility. Additionally, they created a 501c3 that recruited a venture backed kitchen incubator as well as loans and grants to support co-packing and a locally produced food campus. Furthermore, they led the development of an Urban Innovation Districts strategy with the leadership of Providence’s Higher Ed institutions. Mark also focused on New Economy sectors such as BlueTech. Co-led the creation of a new biotech incubator as well as emphasized community centered innovation in the lower income neighborhoods.
Before their work at City of Providence, Mark Huang was a Co-founding Partner at Tolero Ventures from October 2013 to December 2015. Mark was also a Board Of Directors and Investor at Tern Bicycles. Prior to that, they were a Co-Founding Partner at Novus Energy Partners from January 2008 to July 2013. Before their work at Novus Energy Partners, Mark Huang worked as the Senior Vice President at GE Energy Financial Services from September 1997 to October 2007.
Mark Huang received their MBA from Columbia Business School, their Masters in International Affairs from Columbia SIPA with a focus on East Asia and the Developing World, and their BS in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from Webb Institute.
