Alicia Barnes currently serves as the Head of Decarbonisation Initiatives Branch at the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, a position held since July 2025. Previously, Alicia was the General Manager of Project Delivery at the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), overseeing strategic portfolio management for approximately 200 renewable energy innovation projects and initiating the agency's First Nations Program of Work. Alicia has extensive experience in leadership and operations, including roles as Chief Operating Officer at Reconciliation Australia and Director of the Strategic Property Consolidation Project at the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications. Holding multiple degrees, including a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Public Relations, Alicia is also pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Wiradjuri language, culture, and heritage at Charles Sturt University.
