Thomas Tai Kopia is an experienced accounting professional and educator with a diverse background spanning over two decades. Currently serving as an Accounting Teacher for Grades 11 and 12 at the Department of Education in Papua New Guinea since August 2018, Thomas previously held management positions in administration and finance, including roles as Administration and Accounts Manager at Capex Solutions Limited and Finance and Administration Manager at Pacific Rim Constructors. Thomas's expertise extends to project accounting, as demonstrated through work with Summit Development Limited and OM Holdings Limited, where responsibilities included financial analysis and reporting for substantial mining projects. Earlier experience includes significant roles in internal auditing with Coca-Cola Amatil (PNG) Limited and financial analysis at the Bank of Papua New Guinea, along with foundational positions in accounts payable. Under the Organic Law on Provincial Governments and Local-Level Governments, the NDoE determines national policies and standards and supports their implementation by the provinces with services such as planning, research, training and staff development. The NDoE is responsible for: teacher education, inspection and registration; the national curriculum; curriculum materials; and examinations. It is also responsible for national institutions, namely teachers’ colleges, technical colleges, national high schools, special education resource centers, flexible open and distance education (FODE) centres and schools in the National Capital District.
