Laura Sima, PhD, currently serves as the Country Director for Mexico and Senior International Specialist at the U.S. Department of Energy, a position held since April 2020. Previous experience includes roles as Senior International Trade Adviser at the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service and Foreign Affairs Officer at the U.S. Department of State. Laura has also contributed as an AAAS Science and Technology Fellow at OECD, an Economic Officer at USAID, and a Research Fellow at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Academic achievements include a PhD in Chemical and Environmental Engineering from Yale University and various research and teaching positions, including significant contributions to water treatment and sustainability.
