Mary Sotos currently serves as the Director of the Federal Energy Management Program at the U.S. Department of Energy, a position held since December 2021. Prior experience includes roles as Senior Policy Advisor and Deputy Commissioner for Energy at the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection from February 2017 to December 2021. At the World Resources Institute, Mary contributed to the Global Energy Program and managed the Greenhouse Gas Protocol program, focusing on corporate greenhouse gas emissions and renewable energy initiatives from March 2009 to February 2017. Earlier experience includes a U.S. Fulbright Fellowship in Belgium assessing energy demand strategies, internships in wetland management, and advocacy work on environmental stewardship. Mary holds an MA in Environmental Science and Management from Université libre de Bruxelles and a BA in Environmental Studies from St. Olaf College.
