Roland Risser serves as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Renewable Power at the US Department of Energy since January 2010, overseeing the Solar, Water, Wind, and Geothermal Power Offices. Additionally, Risser directs the Building Technologies Office, focusing on enhancing energy efficiency in residential and commercial buildings, developing test procedures and energy efficiency standards, and fostering innovations through a dedicated Consortium. Prior to his role at the Department of Energy, Risser spent six years at PG&E, where responsibilities included managing Customer Energy Efficiency programs, policy development, and overseeing significant energy efficiency initiatives with a substantial budget. Risser holds an Executive Program in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master of Science in Biological Sciences from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo, and a Bachelor of Science in Biological Science from UC Irvine.
