Keith Hernandez, AICP, PMP, has extensive experience in urban planning and community development, currently serving as the Director of Community Planning and Development for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development since 2011. In this role, Keith leads initiatives to enhance living standards in Michigan through effective housing project implementation and federal grant management, including CARES Act funding. Previous positions include City Planner and Deputy Director for the City of Kalamazoo, Principal City Planner for the City of Detroit, and roles at the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments as a Transportation Planner and GIS Analyst. Keith holds a Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning from Michigan State University and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Michigan.
