Defne Sarsilmaz, Ph.D., has extensive experience in foreign affairs and linguistics, currently serving as a Foreign Affairs Officer focused on European Partnerships at the U.S. Department of State. Previous roles include Foreign Affairs Officer and Stabilization Advisor, as well as positions as a Turkish Linguist and OSINT Researcher for the Department of Defense. Defne's expertise extends to market analysis in the healthcare sectors of Turkey, Germany, and the United States. Additionally, contributions as a Counter-extremism Researcher and Social Media Analyst have been made at AECOM, along with work at JTG, inc. as a Turkish Target Language Expert. Defne holds a Doctor of Philosophy and a Master of Arts in Global and Sociocultural Studies from Florida International University.
