Heather Hurlburt

Heather Hurlburt currently serves as a member of the International Security Advisory Board at the U.S. Department of State and as Chief of Staff at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. Previously, Hurlburt directed research at New America, focusing on policy advocacy amid political polarization, and held roles as Senior Fellow at Human Rights First, Executive Director at the National Security Network, and Deputy Director at the International Crisis Group. Hurlburt's early career included positions as Special Assistant to the President and Presidential Speechwriter during the Clinton Administration, as well as speechwriter and policy planner at the U.S. Department of State. Hurlburt holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations and Affairs from The George Washington University and a Bachelor’s Degree in the same field from Brown University.
