Jameela Akbari

Jameela Akbari serves as the Deputy Assistant Secretary and Deputy Chief Human Capital Officer at the U.S. Department of State, with a career spanning over two decades in public service. Previous positions include Director and Chief of the Strategic Workforce Planning Staff for the Chief Information Officer, as well as Senior Management Advisor to the Chief Information Officer. Prior to joining the Department of State, Jameela Akbari worked as a Senior Program Examiner at the Office of Management and Budget, managing a $15 billion portfolio for the Department of Education. Additional experience includes a role as a Management Analyst at the U.S. Department of Education, where oversight findings regarding internal controls for competitive grants were addressed, and as a Presidential Management Fellow at the Social Security Administration, focusing on policy impacts. Jameela Akbari holds a Master's degree in Administration, Planning, and Social Policy from Harvard Graduate School of Education and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Chicago.
