Wayne Payton has extensive experience with the U.S. Department of State, having held various leadership and technical roles since joining in 1994. Currently semi-retired, Wayne is awaiting a position as REA in the Africa Bureau. Previous roles include Chief of Technical Operations at the School of Applied Information Technology, Chief for Technical Operations Branch, IT Project Officer, and Senior IT Manager at multiple U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide. Wayne also served as Branch Chief for the Nuclear Risk Reduction Center and as a Special Assistant to the Deputy Chief Information Officer. Prior to the State Department, Wayne was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Belize. Academic credentials include a Bachelor's degree from Peru State College and an Associate degree from Central Community College in Industrial Electronics.
