Michael Smith

Michael Smith is an experienced film educator and practitioner currently serving as a Film Directing Instructor at both DePaul University and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee since November and August 2023, respectively. With a long-standing tenure as a Film Studies Instructor at Oakton Community College since 2009, Michael has also taught at Harold Washington College, College of Lake County, and Triton College. Additionally, Michael held the position of Director, Writer, and Producer at Lost Tree Lane Productions from 2009 until November 2023 and contributed as a writer for whitecitycinema.com from 2010 to August 2023. Michael earned a Master of Arts in Cinematography and Film/Video Production from Humboldt State University between 2002 and 2004.
