Richard Wetzel is an accomplished academic in the field of game design and augmented reality, currently serving as an Associate Professor at DePaul University since September 2023. Prior to this role, Richard held various academic positions including Professor and Assistant Professor in Augmented Reality at Hochschule Luzern from March 2018 to September 2023, and Senior Lecturer as well as Lecturer in Games Computing at the University of Lincoln between March 2016 and February 2018. Richard's research experience includes a position as a Research Fellow at Fraunhofer FIT from November 2006 to November 2012. Richard's educational background includes a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Nottingham, completed between 2012 and 2017, a Master of Arts in Virtual Realities from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin, from 2004 to 2006, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Digital Media from the University of Bremen, completed in 2004, along with studies at the University of Lapland and the University at Buffalo.
