Rupert Casey

Rupert Casey is an experienced environmental leader currently serving as the Assistant Director for Climate Change and Environment at Derbyshire County Council since December 2021. Responsibilities include enabling the Local Nature Recovery Strategy, preparing the Tree and Woodland Strategy, and initiating the Heartwood Community Forest. Additionally, Rupert has developed a strategic business plan for environmental stewardship across 130 Countryside Sites and has managed various programs related to climate change and natural heritage. Prior experience includes roles at Knowsley Council, Oldham Council, Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority, Sefton Council, the Environment Agency, and Hertfordshire County Council, focusing on waste management, sustainability, and environmental protection. Rupert holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Service Leadership from Lancaster University, an MSc in Environmental Science, Policy and Planning from the University of Bath, and a BSc (Hons) in Applied Science from Kingston Polytechnic.
